Not too old at all. I had a friend who was in his 60's going back to school! And there were plenty of people a variety of ages in between there that I knew as well. And plenty of people turn their lives around after one mistake.

If you need help, I would encourage you to get counseling and other help. There is nothing wrong with that. Let me tell you of a group I know that is very willing to work with people. Here's a link to a group and someone in your area who may be able to help you as well:

But whatever you do, don't give up. You have plenty of time to turn your life around.

You would be one of the youngest students in college if you started this year! The average age at most universities is now close to 30.

Please do not do anything rash like killing yourself. This would be a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

And no, I wouldn't recommend you go into social work, either, as it may not suit you.

Do not dis yourself for having made some mistakes, either. You can still be successful if you do some research first. Choose your priorities, then make a list of your top ten choices. Make sure you list both a good quality and a bad one. If you feel some subjects would be horribly bad, then don't go into that profession.

People turn themselves around every day. The trick isn't in turning yourself around so much as it is that you STAY turned in the right direction!

Good luck, and know that you are an important part of society.

People turn their lives around everyday!!! Please don't let any worries stop you from getting a degree if that's what you want!!! I've been out of school 10 years and I never went to college and I, too, sometimes have those thoughts about being too old. But, you're never too old to go. I'm actually thinking about going myself. Having a felony might makes things a little difficult, but having a degree can only help you!

You're are not too old at all. Seriously, you will find people twice as old as you there. I had a 50 y/o guy in my class once.

You can become a social worker and it would be a great career. Maybe think about becoming a probation officer.

You have to believe in yourself. Go to college and you will see that its completely worth the work.

you are absolutely not too old to go to school, you have a dream, so you made a mistake, you paid for it, it sounds to me like you really do want to turn you life around and only you can do that, believe in yourself, go for your goals, and there will be someone along the way that will go miles to help you reach that goal, i don't know about being a social worker after a felony but if that's what you want to do then find out, talk to people from local agencies, try dcf see if they might be able to help, and then go to school! it is never a waste of time to follow a dream!!! good luck!!!

you are definitely not old. most friends i graduated with in high school (3 years ago) are starting college now. plus in college there is such a diversity of age from young teens to seniors 65 yrs and older. no one discriminates, and best of all no one cares, so PLEASE do the right thing and go to school.

and there are many people who have changed their lives around, after we make mistakes we learn from them and that's what teaches us what was right and wrong and how we can fix it. u seem to understand that u have ideas on how to fix it. so please do not do anything rash like ending your life. everyone has problems and there r lots of people who have it worse than u, if u work hard and strive u will succeed and then u will realize that to think about ending ur life was a foolish thought.

PLEASE GET OUT THERE AND DO UR BEST!
I WISH U LUCK!!!

GO TO SCHOOL! you can turn your life around and actually social work sounds like a good fit. many people in social work have tumultuous pasts and it makes them better at helping those with similar problems. you have a lot to offer but you are going to have to work for it. you can either start now and be a little behind or start later and be even more behind. what else are you going to do? you have te power to change the situation but only you can. nobody is going to hand you a degree. so while i understand feeling too old to start college, its all in your head. you arent going to college for anyone else but your self. so screw everyone that wants to pass judgment. its all for your benefit. good luck!

There are a lot of people that start college in their twenties for one reason or another. Yes, it will be difficult to get a job after you graduate but not impossible. College kids across this nation have gotten in trouble while in college and most of them still end up just fine in their careers down the road.
