I'm from the Chicago suburbs, and I wanted to know how difficult it is to get into UC schools from out of state, especially Berkeley and UCLA, which are 2 very reputable schools alone. I am a pretty good student and am involved in lots of activities, but so are a lot of other asians in the cal state area :-). Otherwise, I think i'll apply to USC since it's private, but i'm not as fond of it as i am of the other 2 schools. I plan to major in international relations, or another intense law program- i plan to be a public relations lawyer.

rank 59/ 767, 3.75 unweighted gpa, 4.18 weighted, 32 ACT. 4 years of cross country, 4 years of choir/ 3 intense singing groups, 3 years of theater, creator of a student run newspaper my junior year.

Ok first off I must explain I started Kindergarden a year late since the school I went to in New York felt since my bithday was so late in the school year it would be best if I started the next year. So instead of being part of the class of 99, I was with the class of 00, but then I went to pre-first thus making me a member of the class of 01. I graduated at age 20 and went right to a community college, in 3 years time I had my Liberal Arts degree. I then went off to a 4 year college and spent one year there working on a History degree before I moved with my family to Florida. I had to spend a year away as I moved, and got my residence established and then got into a 4 year College but finding I am not liking my Major and not sure what I want to do, and not sure what if any skills I have to get a job. I am thinking maybe I just need to go get a job and work for awhile or go to a community college down here and figure out what it is I am good at, and then major in that.

I just returned from a grad school interview in which I met with 8 different faculty members for approximately 30 minutes each. Should I write a personal than you note to each faculty member I met with, or only the ones I am most interested in working with? Also, if I do write 8 different emails, do I need to tailor each one to that particular interview, or can I make it a sort of form thank you email?

Here's what I got from my local news website:
Wind chill advisory remains in effect until 12 pm est Monday.
A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 12 pm est Monday.
Temperatures will fall between 5 and 10 below zero overnight. These bitterly cold temperatures will combine with winds of 10 to 15 mph to cause wind chill reading to approach 25 degrees below zero. Wind chills values will remain near 20 below zero into monday morning before temperatures start to climb.
A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

For example, I go to a private school that has a strong emphasis on writing. It is considered the second best school in Houston by most accounts. So, how would my 3.0, compare to a 3.4 say from one of the lower ranked undergraduate schools that had really easy standards for getting in in the first place? Will my GPA be inflated against those schools?

Here is my deal, right now I am dealing with an anxiety disorder and I also majoring in something that I have no plans of doing anything with. When I started School I started in New York, were I got my associates degree in Liberal arts, then I went to another college were I started off as a History Major, then I ened up leaving to move with my family to Florida. Once in Florida I started going to a collage as a History major but finding what I had oringly aimed to do with my degree in New York is not something I want to do here in Florida. Not only that but I dislike the deparment of history set up here. Now I have no idea as to what I plan on doing with my life, but am wondering if I should first try and get some medican and get over my anxiety disorder then, either complet this one smester , which I am only taking one class since its all I could get into, or withdrawl from it, and meet with some career counselor and then go back to College ( even a Community One)?

it is going to be up to -20 wind chill, and they have not closed any college campuses....

you MUST walk several football fields length to get to any building from the parking lot, dorm, etc. also, there are many who walk from their apartments and houses.

not to mention, the campus is on a hill & is always much colder than the surrounding area...

it is a safety issue... frost bite...

by the way, there are almost 500 school closings of high schools, etc. in the area.

what does it take!!!!???? how freaking cold does it have to be???

I only have a 3.7 cumulative GPA, I didn't do any extra curricular activites besides the Spanish Club, and my SAT scores are only a little above average.

Specially speaking about colleges like Cal Berkeley, UCSF, USF, and Standford.

These degrees are always advertised, "Tired of your job? Earn your Bachelors or Masters online!" and I was just wondering if it is actually worth it to get one. I'm sure they're hard to get, especially in one year, so is all that work really worth it? Or is it better to just go to a normal university?

I'm currently a freshman in high school with a 4.0 GPA and involved in many extra cirriculars. I would like some college recommendations.

I also need some career guidance. I am interested in travel, foreign affairs, ect. I don't care about the pay, as long as the job is interesting and offers a wide range of opportunities.

Thanks!

If I major in English (for Teahcing P-12) at Montclair State University, I can still go to Law School, right? I'm just not sure that if I major in English (Teaching), than I would be able to still go to Law School, since I'll be like a teacher already. What majors will ease the transition from Undergrad school to Law School? Is Economics a good one? Thanks

I am a working professional and planning to pursue education on line. I came across the following university http://www.wgu.edu/index.asp. They state that the university is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities also nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).

I am planning to pursue Business—Information Technology Management from this university.

Can any one share their opinion on this online university?
