I am allergic to shellfish but can have imitation crab, etc. Tried Dragon rolls and caterpillar rolls, which were great, but didn't like the sashimi. Can anyone give me some recommendations with details, please? Thanks!

FYI: the standard tip is 15% of your bill. Less than that means you received bad service. More than that means you received above average service.
Did you know that servers only get paid about $2.35 an hour.
I was once a waitress, and I know how they feel.
How much do you tip & why? What things do you look for if any that make a difference in the amount you tip?

I would like to find a place that will deliver a hot meal that is good. When I say good I mean not "Red Lobster" or "On the Border". I would like to send a nice meal home to my mom and aunt who don't know how to drive to restaurants throughout Phoenix. Any type of food I'm open too. Thanks!

Just curious as to what your thoughts and opinions are on this matter as it happens at least once a day in my restaurant. People are late for a flight so they go to a busy restaurant and expect you to have their food out for them within 5 minutes. They bother you every 5 minutes, asking where their food is, which takes your time and attention away from your other tables. You can never get their food out fast enough for them when the restaurant is filled to capacity so they end up leaving you a crappy tip like it's your fault. I am just curious as to why people think because they are in a hurry, that the restaurant should revolve around them. I , personally, would eat at the airport if I was that late, or I would go to a fast food restaurant where I didn't have to wait. Keep in mind that I work nowhere near an airport, the closest one is at least 30 minutes away.

This also applies to people who are late for anything in general, I just find flights the strangest.

That's almost like throwing away money that could be used for other things. The most I ever spent on dinner was $145.00 on a date. 45.00 plates each. drinks costing around $8.00 each. plus a tip. This was at a fancy Italian Restraunt in La Jolla, California. How freeking ridiculouse.

Whenever, be it at a social gathering, the office, etc., sushi is brought up nearly everyone gets excited and has to share what kind of sushi they like and try to convince people that don't eat it that they should. I love sushi, but it seems like so sort of cult, lol.

My company is taking me to a farewell lunch on Friday. I can go wherever I want! Here are the catches:
1. It can't be a place like per se, because we'd never get a reservation in 3 days.
2. I'm a vegetarian -- I eat no meat or seafood (I do eat eggs & dairy)
3. I work in Midtown West, so the restaurant should be reasonably close (say, betw 5th & 10th ave, 35th and 70th St), but I'd make exceptions.

My favorite cuisines are Mexican, Italian, Indian, and "New American," though I'm willing to try anything. The budget is basically unlimited. I've been to Rosa Mexicano, Utsav, Bombay Palace, and Remi.

I've ruled out the usuals -- Peter Lugar, Le Bernadin, Aquavit, Esca, Jean Georges, L'Impero (because it's far), etc. (unless someone can assure me one of these has very good vegetarian lunches)

I could fallback on the Ritz/Waldorf, but prefer not to. Suggestions? They're bugging me to pick a place (I suggested cheap mexican w/ margaritas but they want to go fancy)

Can anyone give me an address for a place in SD that sells shaved ice? All of the places I've tried so far have only the really coarsely ground stuff. Thanks!
