Can someone help me out in getting a 1080p TV. Also more importantly when I put in the headphones, I would want the external speaker to work too, so that people around me can hear what I am hearing too. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand that 1280 x 720i/p and 1980 x 1080i/p indicate the number of vertical horizontal lines on an HDTV set but when I check out manufacturers' specs for their HDTV's, you see specs like 1024 x 768, 1365 x 768, and 1280 x 1080. As you can see, nothing matches. So how for example, can a manufacturer advertising a 1024 x 768 tv claim to show 1080i when the tv physically has only 768 horizontal lines?

Can anyone explain why this happens? I have a portable TV in my bedroom, it is usually left on standby and switched off using the remote control. Quite often when I turn the bedrrom light on. the TV switches on at the same time, we have recently moved house and this used to happen in the old house too! Is my TV possessed or is there some other explanation?

While watching TV, I heard a small popping noise and the picture was replaced with a vertical rainbow colored line. I can hear audio - no pic. I also noticed an electrical smell when I got close to the tv. Any thoughts?

My 3 year old, 34 lb grandson hit it with an empty drinking cup. The TV looks fine but when you turn it on it looks like lines have been drawn on the screen. You cant feel any cracks. Why didnt the outside screen protect it? Are these TVs that fragile?
Could there have been some defect to make it more fragile?

Does Best Buy allow you to price match more than once? I did a price match last week and my TV dropped another $100 today.

Please help me!! I purchased a 32" LCD tv, it was ok for a couple of days and then all of a sudden I seem 2 get very bad picture roll, for which I have to keep switching the tv on and off repeatedly to resolve!
However the worst problem I have is VERY BAD colour bleed. The only way I can describe it is that it's like watching a live action cartoon (if that makes any sense at all?) The background seems to go blue and the objects are red and green.
As you can imagine this is VERY frustrating. Sometimes I can resolve the problem by switching the tv off and on, but other times I'm stuck with it!
Please, please somebody help me!!!
I would be eternally grateful.
Cheers.

I have recently moved my home and stuff. I transferred my TV in a removals' van with other stuff. When I connected TV at the new place, I had to tune it to see the free view channels. Now the picture is fine but the sound system does not seem to work properly. Sound is very very noisy and cannot be understood at all.
I don't know whether it is the result of my move or it has damaged my TV internally. The TV repairer wanted £35 to fix it though will not promise to fix it. He says that he will still charge same even if he is not able to fix it. I dont want to take that risk.
Can anybody tell me any solutions? any home quick fix?
Thanks

Ok, This is kind of frustrating me. I Got a Ps3 not to long ago played a Ps3 game for the first time and I thought the graphics was Amazing, Then I read that it works best with Hdtvs that are 1080 resolution types. My Tv is, a Big Wide Plasma screen that I thought was a HDTV At the top right corner of the tv it says HDTV MONITER then yesterday I got on my ps3 and Noticed it says the resolution was set to 480I and I was told the standard resolution of a HDTV is 720p So I tried changing it on my ps3 it does that 30 second blank screen if your tvs resolution is not correct i tried selecting all the resolutions and all of them was wrong, then today I decided to watch Universal soldier and I noticed the Input said underneath it 480i is their a option on HDTV' that you have to change the default resolution, because all this resolution stuff just Irritates me If my Tv is not HDTV then why does it say on the tv HDTV Moniter explain this to me please and if I have to change like a default

Tv works pretty good for a while until screen blanks out and red light next to"on" button starts flashing. Could it be some kind of sensor. If it is can i buy it and replace it. Or how much is an estimated repair? I called a local repair shop and they charge $150 just to bring it in.

I live within 10 miles of all the tv stations in my town. I can pick-up FOX, CBS, and NBC with the over the air HDTV antenna but sometimes it seems to go in and out. Sometimes its so sensitive that when someone walks infront of the tv, or up the stairs that the signal goes out for a moment. I have tried adjusting this everyway I can think of. Is thier something I can do to boost the signal or do I just need a more powerful antenna. Football season is up soon and I'm tired of only being able to watch it sometimes in HDTV

Thanks

I just replaced my polaroid FXM 2611C with a TDA 03211C (actually polaroid did when the 26"er took a crap) Anyway, I recieve my signal over the air and all I did was take away the 2611 and plop down the 3211 and hooked up everything the same, but compared to the old one the picture on the new one sucks. I can change for example from channel 8 (analog channel) to 8.1 (HD Channel, and yes, I'm sure the evening news broadcast I was watching WAS in HD) and see no difference. It's not that the picture is bad, but it's not HD and it's not anything like the 26" was, so what's up. I called Polaroid and they are supposedly going to have someone call me in 3-5 days and set up a time for someone to come to my home to look at it, I just wondered if there was anything I could check out on my own. Thanks for any help.

I don't know which one to choose. I am choosing the 200 channel plans. I like Dish because it offers more HD channels at the same price and is cheaper than the others. Their DVR look pretty good 2 but i dont really know. I read here on answers that however they have bad customer service compared to DirecTv which is better but cost somewhat more but lack the number of HD channel Dish has and costs more although they have TiVo the lack of HD channels is more disturbing to me and the fact that is cost more for less. Then again I am kinda against getting any satlitte carriers because i just moved to the Seattle area where it is cloudy 2/3 of the year and dizzles alot and i don't know wheather that will impact the channels I receive enough wheather it needs to be a downpour or not. THen there is comcast. Cable which cost a good deal more than satelitte. From the info i got i think they have like 7 HD channels compared to 20 with Dish Their DVR sucks but if you can get Tivo then i don't care.

How much should it cost to have a repair man come out and look at my tv? I just picked up a tv for free, a pretty nice big screen, and I need someone to take a look at it and see if its worth fixing. Also do I need to have the tv completely hooked up or can I just plug it in the wall and they can tell if it is fixed without being hooked up to cable.

Thanks
