It may be that on your new TV, channel 5 and freeview may be tuned too closely to each other. For example, in some regions, channel 5 is tuned to number 35, and freeview is tuned to channel 36. As freeview has a stronger signal than channel 5, the freeview blocks the channel 5 signal. You can sometimes get around this problem by re-modulating your freeview. This entails adjusting your freeview box so that it broadcasts on a different number, thereby moving it away from all of your TV signals. Your instruction manual will tell you how to do this. You will, of course, have to re-tune your freeview channel on your TV, so you can find it again.

Suddenly, my Channel 5 went unwatchable when we had a new aerial installed some years ago. When we changed to digital TV with built-in Freeview, Channel 5 was brilliant ... as long as we didn't want to record it on video; the video is, of course, the old analogue signal!
My best advice is, don't fiddle about with the telly yourself; this will only cause you stress and probably make the problem worse. Contact the place where you bought your new television and let them sort it out. It is your money and you deserve some back-up help and service with your purchase. Hope you get it.
Good luck.

Many people have trouble with channel Five because the signal they put out is very poor, You probably live in a rural area. Try getting a good quality digital ariel from ASDA or Argos or any supermarket you live near. Rescan the entrie LCD and you should be able to get Channel Five and a few extra channels that wern't there before.
Best to get an ariel with an amplifier, I got mine from ASDA for £17 very good and small

IF your TV has HRC or IRC Cable settings, you don't want those, you want Standard Cable, then autoprogram it again....
