Vizio Uses panels 32, 37, and 42".
Sony uses panels 40", 46", so definitely different TVs.
So, Sony (or anyone else) would never develop TVs for someone else with a completely different set of panels. (Too costly).
Actually, Vizio can't afford the panels Sony is using.
So, it may be a comfort for Vizio buyers to think that they buy Sony at half the price, but in reality they buy what they pay for.

I will never own another Sony television. No support and after 18 months the infamous blue line appeared. May buy a vizio because expensive televisions don't hold up any better then a Vizio

DigiTimes reported a while back that Foxconn was responsible for a recent recall on the 26" Vizio for a software issue. They also said that Foxconn owned a portion of Vizio. Not remarkable, since Foxconn has bought into many electronics companies.

for the same reason the tire salesman told me the Michelin owns Uniroyal now so that buying a Uniroyal I get a Michelin at half the price.
Believe that? I want to show u some oceanfront property I have in AZ.
Michelin may own Uniroyal, but I'm sure Sony has nothing to do with Vizio.

i havent hear that and i dont belive it at all. why would sony waste there time. making cheap crappy tvs. even if they did sony is smart enough to say made by sony or a part of sony inc. thats just smart marketing. vizio would sell allot more tvs if sony said they make them. but i dont believe it at all..

Although I do not have a definitive answer, I am not sure the answer that it could not be true is correct. Lots of big name appliance and electronic manufactures product house brands and other names without using their "brand" name. Frequently this is because they are dumping older models, old technology or cheaper parts and do not want the repair frequency to count against them.
