Any suggestions? I would like something of high quality that will last a long time, and that does not require a subscription to a service. Also, if there is one that allows connection to the net to download TV listings, that would be a plus.

I just don't comprehend the + and - when it comes to recordable formats. Which is best? Is there a DVD recorder that will do both? I'm looking to transfer Hi8 to DVD format and VHS to DVD format..also record t.v. shows to send to Iraq for dh. I already have a VHS player but need to purchase a DVD recorder.
Am I on the right track?

I need to re-enter the code, but my television brand is not listed in the user book. I know the remote has to work with my television, because I've used it in the past. Is there a code you can enter if your television is not listed that will make the remote work with it?
