You are confusing the term "HDTV" and "HD". A cable or satellite service provides HDTV - High Definition Television programming. An Xbox 360, PS3 or a Blu-Ray outputs HD - High Definition signal. This means it outputs at a high resolution of 720p, 1080i or 10808p. For the latter, you just need the right cabling - component, DVI or HDMI to connect a HD device to an HDTV. There is no additional subscription involved.

Of course, the caveat for all of this is that you need an HDTV. If you have a standard tube TV, then you are never going to get a high definition signal from your Xbox. Standard non-HDTV or also known as SDTV...you will only get a low res image. 480i or 480p to be exact.

You can get over-the-air service by installing a regular antenna. The service will be your local stations, however. Don't expect high-quality HD compared to cable or satellite.

in case you get a sturdy high quality television (Plasma or liquid crystal demonstrate) then gazing a DVD would be large regardless in case you have cable or no longer. I easily have heard rumors that sometime interior the close to destiny they're getting rid of "Air wave" television publicizes. they are going to be utilising those frequencies for police radios and different emergency purposes. returned, that became right into a rumor I heard to no longer some time past. i did no longer think of lots of it on the time because of the fact i did no longer think of each and every individual easily used Antennas anymore.
