Its a machine that lets you record tv shows and watch them later.

A TIVO is a DVD R its likea VCR but w/o all of the messy tapes. it records everything onto a harddrive and while its recording u can also watch another channel or watch something that u already recorded unlike with a vcr if u are recording something and want to watch another video u would need A another VCR or B stop recording eject the tape to watch that way or C wait for it to finish recording
