I know satellite is cheaper and has more options, DVR is particurly what I want, but does the quality of service and service charges add up to more than the cost of cable. When speaking to each of the satellite companies they seem slimy, running credit and trying to hide the extra fees. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi,

I need a DVD or a HDD recorder with Freeview. Ideally, it has dual tuners and divx support, but these are not essential.
What I need is something that is quick, intuitive, not too noisy and under £160. Any suggestions?
If it is a HDD recorder - how does one transfer video from it to a DVD/PC?
Thanks!

I have Charter Digital Cable and the Big Value Package which includes the on-demand movie channels. Can someone tell me how to hook up my DVD recorder so that I can record a movie from the digital cable box. Where should my audio and video wire go to and from and what should my cable wire connect to?

Our tivo is doing something weird. It says the TIVo Dvr has only 3 days of program information left. After that, no progress will be recorded, sofwere updates will noot be availible, and any premium services on the DVR will be interupted. To get more program information, the DVR must connect succesfully to the Tivo service. I have a new DVD/VCR recorder. The DVDs that I make will not play on any other player. I can't share my movies with my family. I have tried 2,4, and 8. I've used cheap and better quality DVD blanks and it doesn't seem to matter. The players are new and 2 years old; this too, doesn't seem to matter. Obviously, there is a unversal DVD that will play in all players (I'm going by the fact that the ones you buy will play in all players). Any ideas?

When I am watching something I've recorded to the hard disc it occasionally skips and sometimes makes a high pitched 'squeak' noise at the same time. Can't figure out if it is a bad 'signal' from the integrated digital tuner it has recorded from (as it does sometimes show a black screen with 'no signal' on it) or whether it is a fault with the recording or playback or hard disc. Any ideas or similar experiences appreciated.
