Yes, it works. Coolsat is a brand. There's also Pansat, Fortec Star, Dreambox, Viewsat and others. I personally use a Pansat 330a. The picture quality is great, it's not too buggy and has good signal sensitivity. It also has coaxial digital out which is useful for PBS. My only complaint is that it doesn't have blind scan. I like being able to find the wild feeds that aren't published in Lyngsat. The newer Pansat boxes do have Blind Scan. Their US operations are based out of California and they have decent tech support. Just have a 30" dish or bigger for Ku band and you'll need 4 foot bare minimum for C band, 8 foot recommended. Lots of stuff on all the different satellites. It's all listed on http://www.lyngsat.com just look and see what's DVB and in the clear.
