When both SMPTE and VCEG developed VC-1 and H.264, respectively, I am not sure when JVC, the developer of D-VHS, will redevelop to produce another model of D-VHS player/recorder supporting that new video codecs. Currently, D-VHS still supports old video codecs such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 for recording both standard and high definition digital video.

What do you think? What is your reaction when most consumer electronics company will develop a new D-VHS player/recorder supporting both old and new video codecs?

I know this is probably a stupid question and obvious answer, but I don't want to guess. I'm not that knowledgable on sound & electronics. When saving space for burning a dvd, I want to only choose 5.1 or 2-channel sound when ripping the dvd, not both. (my preference) The TV I'll be playing the burned movie on, only has 2 speakers. So, I wondered if chosing only one or the other sound options, if it'll affect the sound from the movie on my tv. Thanks for any input!

I got a DVD, and on the shiny side, it has blobs on it, but it works fine. I want to know if these "blobs" will eventually harm the disc or not. Are they just patterns made on the DVD when it was made, and has no harm, or is it a factory defect that could cause problems?

I changed my VHS player's counting from seconds to not sure what.

The movie is 128 mintues long and the player says 2:08. I really need to change it back. I'm taking Drama Film and Television and need to watch certain clips starting at certain times...eg 11:20...

Plus I filled up the timer by mistake with random alarm times (I was trying to get out of the timer settings)....how do I erase this?

My VHS player seems quite old it's SONY - if extra info is needed pleeease tell me.

I have heard that if I unplugged my tv, stereo, alarm clocks, lamps and other household items, I can save money on my electric bill every month. This would mean that even when these items are turned off, they are still drawing electricity.

Hi there.I have purchased a Stepdown Transformer so i can use a Record Cleaning Machine I am buying from the U.S.It uses a powered suction unit to clean the record. All transformers for use with American equipment have 110v output, but i think your equipment is usually 120v.in I have been told that there is nothing to worry about as 110v out on the transformer is enough to power the equipment connected to it .Our AC output in Australia is 240v but we can use any voltage from 220 to 250. Therefore 110v should be enough.
can anyone clarify and tell me it should be ok.Thanks a lot in advance.

On the front of my desktop pc and on the side of my laptop there are 3 audio jack sockets. I know one is for headphones, the other for a microphone but what is the 3rd one for? It has a symbol above it looks like a dot with an arrow pointing at it and lines coming out of it that look like radio waves or something. There is one on the volume control for my subwoofer as well. Any ideas?

I have a DVD player that has RCA inputs. I use it on the move, to watch TV or listen to music, but when I am home I would prefer to watch TV on it.

Does anyone know of a device that I can input my RF cable and get RCA/SVideo output? I am looking for a cheaper unit.

Please do not recommend a Portable DVD Player with a TV tuner. Most TV tuner are just NTSC and I need a one with PAL.
