My DVD Player has a VGA Port alongside the space for the earphones and other audio and video cables which connects it to the TV.
Then what is the use of that port ??

By 'port' I'm presuming you mean input?

If it's an input, that's for a computer or any VGA compatible (obviously video) output device to be played on the screen for the DVD player (such as a computer, compatible video game system, etc).

if it's an OUTPUT, that's for playing your DVD player on a video output device (such as a CRT, flat-panel television with computer-monitor properties, etc) in a high-resolution mode.

Either way, if you're not going to use it.. that extra technology was a waste of money. That's a nice port to have for someone that likes to watch DVDs in high-resolution or stream-record them on their computer.

No If your laptop DVD player does not work then get a USB converter instead.

What if you wanted to use it with a computer monitor and not a TV?
