I got a DVD, and on the shiny side, it has blobs on it, but it works fine. I want to know if these "blobs" will eventually harm the disc or not. Are they just patterns made on the DVD when it was made, and has no harm, or is it a factory defect that could cause problems?

Could the blobs be related to the label on the other side? I ask because I wonder if light is coming through from one side to the other.

I would have guessed that no light at all could pass through the disc, but I think sometimes at least some light can.
