Why is it that when some new electronics are first brought out they are huge like the first cell phones that were as large as bricks and computers that filled up an entire room and then get smaller than anything like the new cell phones that are 3 inches tall and super thin and computers that are in laptop form.

I have no idea how television networks work, and what equipment is used to drive the signal from the broadcasting point to the users. NOTE: this network will be in a small area. I'm interested in both wired and unwired options(cable or antennea). If you could point me to some websites where I could buy broadcasting equipment that'd be great as well.

my power strip/surge protector is plugged directly under where i sit at my computer. the wire is kept at a minimal length so i don't pull it out with my foot on accident but it still happens every now and then. is there a product out there to keep the plug plugged into the outlet or do you have an idea how to keep it plugged in?

I recently purchased the Japanese film Casshern from Amazon and when i played it on my dvd player, it started up with warnings of pirating and then went to a dolby surround clip but after that the disc froze before the menu would appear. Now i was wondering if that happened because the movie is from a different region but why would it start up? Im guessing the disc was falty but if a disc is from another region should it not start up at all?

I purchased a DVD player that has an "angle" feature. When I first purchased it, I managed (by luck I suppose) to rent a DVD that allowed me to pan the angle on the picture.

Since then, I haven't been able to use the feature. Was the angle feature on DVDs just a passing novelty? If not, what should I look for on DVD packaging to know when I can use the angle feature?

I was going to switch to Direct TV and called to find out how many HD channels they have and to see if there were plans more in the future.
The sales person told me in early 2007 he has heard that they were going to add all of their channels in HD 1080i resolution.

I do wonder if this is true or has anyone else heard this rumor, I would like take this person word for it but knowing that they work on commission I am afraid to do so as it could be just a load of bull!

Looking for excellent sound quality, that would be most important. I don't need a lot of bass, since I don't listen to a ton of rap or hip-hop. The volume doesn't need to go up that high, since I live in an apartment. And it doesn't need to be portable, I almost prefer that it isn't. I'm leaning toward the Bose, but wanted to know if anyone had other suggestions. Thanks in Advance!

Hi there,
Is there anyone over there who tried www.esuperstorecorp.com for buying stuff. it seems to be fraud to me. they don't have any other payment option except for wire transfer to UK. I talked to Western Union and they strongly suggested me not to transfer. they dont have any protection plan for buyers.

I called esuperstorecorp couple of times. but they never lift the phone. i dont even know if that company really exist in california. did any of you out there hear from them????

I'm planning to do a road trip across the US and plan to buy a top-of-the-line GPS unit. I would like something with touch screen, speech capabilities, traffic information, MP3 and bluetooth capability, etc. I will primarily use this for my car but I do have a motorcycle too. But I'd rather have a better car GPS than one that is car+motorcycle friendly if I had to choose between the two. Two models I am looking at are the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 and the Garmin Zumo 550. I'm leaning toward the Zumo 550 as it seems to be better than the StreetPilot 2820 in almost every way. Can anyone out there shed some light on why I would opt for the StreetPilot 2820 instead of the Zumo 550 or why I should go with a different brand/model? I'm a first-time car GPS buyer and have seen neither Garmin product in person. (All of the stores around here carry only the lower end models.) Thanks!
