I'm looking for something for $500 or less. I want to use it in my car primarily. Any suggestions?

I have a GPS 12 + map by Garmin and I'm very happy with it.

I use it hand held so it would not be convenient like the ones that stick on the winshield. However, it is good to take in mulitple cars, boats, hiking, etc.

The Garmin nuvi is the best portable GPS by far. Garmin is the leader in this field, and all their products are good, but the nuvi is great. The nuvi is small (size of a deck of cards), speaks all directions (if you want), can run on batteries for ~4 hours and has built-in travel functions like an mp3 player and currency converter. It also has the ability to add features like traffic information, a language converter, international maps, etc. The newest models have wider screens, bluetooth capability for linking to your cell phone or car bluetooth.
