I was going to switch to Direct TV and called to find out how many HD channels they have and to see if there were plans more in the future.
The sales person told me in early 2007 he has heard that they were going to add all of their channels in HD 1080i resolution.

I do wonder if this is true or has anyone else heard this rumor, I would like take this person word for it but knowing that they work on commission I am afraid to do so as it could be just a load of bull!

Maybe "all" is overstating things, but it looks like DirecTV is not kidding when they want to provide a whole lot of HD programming by the end of 2007.

If you dont have directv, then you can call 1-800-DIRECTV and they will set you up. You can currently get an HD package for $45 month, free install, free dish, and free boxes. If you already have directv and want to upgrade, you need to call and get a new box for HD, ($100), and the dish to pick up HD service (3 lnb dish for HD, 5 lnb dish if you want locals in HD as well...$100 plus install). New customer will get all this for free, and if your existing, usually they will take care of you if you tell them how long youve been with them, and or threaten to cancel when your contacts up. Keep in mind when you switch, you are on a 2 year contract and all new directv products are leased, so you will not own the boxes or dish when your term is up.
