I am looking for a home theatre system that I can connect our DVD/CD player to, our TV (which has NO RCA outputs, only the cable), and our laptop which has most of our music on it.

What do I need to connect the TV to the receiver? Like if we rent a movie on demand, how can I get the sound to come through the home theatre speakers instead of the TV speakers? also, what kind of connector would I need to connect the PC (which has a 3.5mm output jack) to the system?

I am looking to spend no more than $250.

I'm trying to hook up my satellite receiver to the phone but the jack is on the other side of the room. I have tried going thru the attic but the wires aren't ran thru the attic (it's a two story house). I can't run it along the baseboards either because of the hardwood floors. Does anybody else have any ideas? Do they sell some sort of wireless adapter that I can plug in the wall and the receiver?

dvd player with normal 480p content projected at a true 480p

versus

dvd player upscaling a regular dvd to 1080p projected at 1080p.

It seems these upscalers are not "adding" any content - just stretching the image.

I understand if you have a 1080p native displaying 480p will be choppy - just like trying to watch regular cable on an hd tv.

I have tried Comet, Currys and Argos.
I need one with a really good sound to play a backing CD when I sing on Sunday. I have only just found out that the place I am singing does not have it's own sound system.

Sales people claim that the RCA/phono cable labeled "audio" will not work for carrying video a very short distance (less than a foot). The "audio" cable will be used to interconnect two yellow-colored "video" RCA/phono cables. My concern is video picture quality will look much worse than if expensive cables labeled "video" are used.

I have a DVD player that will only output surround sound thru the single RCA digital audio jack, but my TV (which processes surround sound) only has analog jacks for audio input. Can I adapt the single cable to two and still get surround sound? Thanks for any help I can get.

I have a bid down on ebay for this: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Bazooka-Dual-10-Subs-300W-Amp-and-Enclosure-Package-EL10190PP/sem/rpsm/oid/150746/catOid/-15481/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do but didn't realize it was for vehicular use until I bid. (ooops!) What I wanted was something more like this: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SA-WM250-100-Watt-Active-Subwoofer/dp/B00026KYFS which I can hook up to my home system via speaker wire. Is there any way to convert it over, and is there a way that I can plug it into a wall socket for juice?

My father just gave me a set of old 901's from the 80's. I have the speakers and the stand but not the equalizer that belongs with it (we have yet to find it). I am dying to get these speakers up and running. I wanted to know if the speakers can go without the EQ until I can buy or find one? I can deal with the sound being sub par for the time being. I just wanted to know if not using an EQ would either damage the speakers or if the sound would be so bad as to not want to listen to them. If they sound good (but not great) I will gladly set them up and save up to get the EQ.

Thanks!

The reason I'm asking, is that I'm not sure if mine is working. Theres some static, but no real audio. I'm sure it's wired correctly. Will it only pass a certain frequency band at certain times, like other surround sound speakers or a sub? Is that why I'm not hearing anything when I check?
