I'm currently placing my subwoofer in a box space in my desk, but i'm not sure how does this affect the sound from it, would i get a better sound if i take it out or if i keep it in ?

I found a great deal on some vintage 2 series Vandersteen's so I bought them, not considering the Yamaha htr 5840 was not up to the task. My question is this: can any Audio Video receiver power these properly? They're ok, if lacking bass, up to moderate volume levels. When I try for loud they clip and the whole system cuts out. I also have a Boston Acoustics cr400 powered sub and BA A-70's for the rear. I use it for movies and music and don't really care how the movies sound. The room (12x15) is just off the kitchen so there are 3 walls and I have to be back against the wall, which does make it hard to hear the surround speakers. I suspect that, on my budget, I should get smaller speakers and an Onkyo or used Denon but I'd appreciate feedback. My budget is $500.

can some one tell me how the subs in this speaker operate, the speakers were part of an RCA shelf system, i bought in 2001, ive never seen any more shelf systems with this type of speaker enclosure , i believe it's a subwoofer t the end of the hole, but why is it like that, and how does it work , they seem like home theater subs, but i dunno,

I have a choice between a A51 Halo amplifier (250W *5 channels at 8 ohm, peak amp = 60) and a Reference 200.5 amplifier (200w*5 channels at 8 ohm, peak amp =75A) to drive my B&W 703 and DS-7 surrounds and a HTM7 center channel. Which should i choose?

unfortunately my entertainment center shares a wall w/ my neighbor's bedroom wall so i've had to turn down the volume on the subwoofer which doesn't give me the full surround sound effect. is there anywhere else i can place a subwoofer that would be adequate? left/right/behind? any recommendation or suggestion would be really appreciative. it's a brand new system & feel i like i'm just wasting it.

what would the best of the best audio system? I'm looking for heart pumping bass ( the kind that will break a glass if you put it in front of the bass). And also, i want superior surround technology, real life clear sound. Any ideas? I was thinking about the mtx custom audio.

I have a pair of Athena AS-B1.2 and they are phenomenal, they cost just over $100/pair. Flat response across the board, but lacking a bit in the bass department. Any recommendations on upgrades? I've heard the AV123 and Ascend brand speakers are unmatched. I'm driving this with a Zhaolu D/A and a Trends Audio low power amp, this will primarily be for music. Thanks!

I cant seem to find affordadle THX certified pre-amplifiers in my price range that recently came out, the only other option I have is purchasing used ones that came out between 1999 to 2004 that are either THX Ultra or THX Ultra 2 certified, some of them also do not offer anymore upgrades. What pre-amplifiers would you suggest

im just wondering does the rear speakers always work? or do they only work in specific times?, i got a DVD player with surround sound system and i hung the 2 rear speakers on the back wall, and i don't find them to work most of time, the connection is connected good so it can't be the problem. only the front speakers always work.

I am in charge of the slideshow presentation at my cousin's 18th birthday this coming weekend and the place where I rented the projector from has a projector screen with the size of 6'x6' (70 in.) To me, this is small since the venue is at a hall. The hall doesn't provide a screen but they said that we can use the white wall as a screen. Is this ok to do? Are there any alternatives that I can do? Use a white sheet or something? I am totally clueless right now.

Any advice will do..thanks in advance!
