I am buying a Receiver for my home theater setup, My speakers are a bit older but they still sound amazing and seem to be the best option for my money right now (nothing has blown me away on a <$100 budget). They are older aiwa speakers with 6 ohlms of resistance and 60w rating. I am wondering if it is going to be a problem for me to buy a sony amplifier with 4 or 8 ohlms impedance and 80w rating.

Here is the amp: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=STRDE635&LOC=3

I have thousands of mp3s on my computer, mostly at 128-192kbits, and i want to play them on a hi-fi set.

Do you think purchasing a sound card, a receiver and a 5.1 speaker priced $ 900 in total is a good idea?

Details:
Creative Live 24 bit $60
Marantz 301 with dolby pro logic II $200
Paradigm CT 110 speakers $650

FYI, the receiver and hifi is considered beginner level for audiophiles.

Is my MP3 that good to deserve a hifi? Or should i go for a desktop 5.1 costing about $60?

My Sony STR-K840P reciever flashes "PROTECT"and must have fried the amp inside.Repair shop wants $200 to fix it,should I just buy another one?The repair tech mentioned that Sony audio quality has declined in the past couple years. What's a good choice for a A/V reciever for $200?

I have a pair of Mission 733 floor standing speakers and the bass/mid-range driver cones have both been punctured beyond any hope of repair.

Mission have confirmed that they are no longer able to supply spares, but has anyone replaced the driver units with a third party manufactured driver and if so to what level of success and can you recommend any particular make/model cone that would be suitable, taking into the consideration the age and value of the speakers.... Just seems a waste to chuck the cabinets.

Thanks in advance.

I have a PS3 and naturally I am hoping that Blu Ray wins out. A friend of mine believed that as of today HD DVD has the upper hand and that most movies are coming out on HD DVD instead of Blu Ray (with the exception of Sony studio movies). Any one know who's ahead? Does HD DVD offer more selection?

Hello,
Any body knows what is the main difference in Bose lifestyle 18 and Bose lifestyle 28 DVD systems. I checked Bose's site and i could not figure out the difference except for the speaker configuration. Is there any power output difference in the two.

I am looking into purchasing a new HDTV soon, maybe something in the 42"-56" size. The problem is I have an entertainment center that is only about 10 years old and do not want to get rid of it. The biggest widescreen that it may hold is about a 38". Any suggestions on what to do, besides the obvious in buying an appropriate sized tv. What are most people in my predicament doing? Any help would be great, thanks!

I'm having trouble installing a Pioneer Blu Ray Drive w/WinDVD HD in my computer. My hardware is up to the requirements but my computer sees the drive as a regular DVD and a message pops up saying "this is a Region A disk, put it in a region A player". Because it's seeing a DVD not a BD DVD it only shows dvd regions (1,2,3,4,5,6) in the properties tab of the drive so I can't change it to "Region A". any help out there?

I have a Yamaha DVD player with S-Video and Component Video outputs. My Sony Projector has both an S-Video and a VGA input. Naturally, I can put S-Video out on my DVD player to S-Video in to my projector.
Can I put Component Video outputs from my DVD player to the VGA input on my Projector. If so, would I need just a cable with an adaptor or some kind of box to convert?
