Try this

HDMI from Dish directly to TV
Digital audio (optical or coax) from Dish to AVR

To get FM, you will need an antenna

Problem is not with your equipment but with the broadcast of the TV signal, it's in 2.0 channel, not 5.1 or surround sound. You won't get surround sound with it unless you have HDTV and receiving a digital signal , it is broadcast in 5.1.
To get a simulated signal try changing the mode from Dolby Digital to Dolby Pro Logic, it will give you surround sound.

First poster precise, no digitial audio. you like a valid gadget that incorporates a minimum of two "optical" enter or "coaxial" enter. Optical favorite. verify Yamaha, actually HTiB are crap, are not getting me incorrect, for the cost they are intense-high quality, I run a pair thousand dollar residing house theatre and (now i'm broke so...) nevertheless run a $250 HTiB. look at Yamaha, Sony went out of choose while it got here to residing house-theatre AUDIO for my area. My yamaha, granted no geared up in DVD yet those are low-value at present, replaced into $250 like 4 or 5 years in the past. incorporates each and every of the digital AUDIO hookups mandatory (no digital video, that's ok). Optimally you opt to run HDMI for something video, so which you will choose a exhibit screen which will settle for a minimum of one, ideally 2+ HDMI. factor remains super high quality (as is DVI, and VGA, yet much less familiar) so which you like that besides. PS3 is HDMI inventory IIRC. actually i could use the PS3 as a DVD participant surely, and get a HTiB without DVD (for upscale you like a digital connection, HDMI, VGA, or DVI as factor can not carry the digital signature mandatory for upconversion). All that being reported... flow with regardless of television you like. Use the PS3 as a blu ray and classic DVD participant. And get a HTiB that incorporates a real receiver. audio gadget are going to attach with uninteresting speaker twine - no longer some fancy plug - and this implies a pair issues. this is probable going to be bigger high quality than a DVD form gadget. it is going to help you improve- nevertheless your unlikely to construct an incredible gadget out of it minor advancements and speaker replacements are effortless and easy, and additionally you're extra probable to get the inputs/outputs you elect.
