I have a pair of Mission 733 floor standing speakers and the bass/mid-range driver cones have both been punctured beyond any hope of repair.

Mission have confirmed that they are no longer able to supply spares, but has anyone replaced the driver units with a third party manufactured driver and if so to what level of success and can you recommend any particular make/model cone that would be suitable, taking into the consideration the age and value of the speakers.... Just seems a waste to chuck the cabinets.

Thanks in advance.

Hi.. :) I'm going to try to comment this poem of yours, do keep in mind.. that I'm not a poet, I don't know the art of poetry too well and English is not my native language.. I just wanted to set that aside :) But I must say, I am pleasantly surprised! I think you are truly talented, the storyline was very interesting and the names are very original.. the thing that makes it even more special, is that it's connected to your own life.. a real experience.. makes it all the more amazing.. It also reminded me a bit of Julius Caeser, who wrote about his battles.. we had to read his proza in high school. Do make a sequal, cause I wanna find out what will happen next as well :)

Television set is produced to the lowest common denominator - i.e., the average IQ of everyone, whereas a e book is written to the highest common denominator

I have tried this before. The short answer is...forget it unless you are a speaker designer. There are a ton of inexpensive, nice sounding speakers available these days. Look at Triangle Speakers.

If you can obtain the specs of the speakers you want to replace then there are a couple of places I can recommend.

First is Parts Express.
http://www.partsexpress.com/speakers.cfm

and the second is MCM Electronics.
