I have a mic, i have gotten it to work in my surround sound system before. but it isnt working. i have a caset player that is pluged into the surround sound system and it has 2 plugs that say mic left and mic right. i can hear sound when i play a tape but when i plug in my mic, nothing. im not shure if this is normal but i can plug it into the headphone jack and i say if i turn on the radio i can hear the radio coming out of my mic. im not shure if my mic is broken or im not doing something rite. its a 1/4 in size. ive gotten it to work along time ago but i cant get it to work now. so i need some help.

it's bad for the mic to play sound through it. but if you can play sound thru it then the mic works. There is probably a volume control for the mic on the stereo, or maybe a switch to turn it on or off.

A mic, same as a speaker, is just a transducer so the above answer is incorrect. In fact, in two-way radio, mics quite often are used both as mics and as speakers. The mic inputs on your cassette player will only work in the record mode. The fact that you can get audio out of it when used as a speaker proves my point, so the mic is not the problem.
