Hi there. Blu-ray is a high definition DVD format that uses a shorter wavelength blue-violet laser technology.Normal DVD uses a longer wavelength red laser technology. The Blu-ray disc can store much more information of data on a single-sided single layer disc compared to the traditional DVD.It can store approximately 12 hours of standard video and /or more than 2 hours of high definition video. It is up to you how you watch it.

bluray is a disk that has much much more capacity. this gives more room to make the movie a lot clearer. also for games you can fit way more maps and way better graphics (it is only on ps3). also they are not dvds they are blurays and if you have a ps3 use it for movies too (buy an hdmi cord for better picture ( monoprice.com)) because it is one of the cheapest bluray players.

oh and make sure that you have a good tv (1080i) if you get an hdmi cord

I watch regular DVDs on my PS3 because it up-converts them and they just look better plus it has 5.1 sound.
