I have a DVD player that will only output surround sound thru the single RCA digital audio jack, but my TV (which processes surround sound) only has analog jacks for audio input. Can I adapt the single cable to two and still get surround sound? Thanks for any help I can get.

Revised question- The audio does go to a receiver with surround capabilities, I basically use the TV as a connection point because the receiver doesn't have as many. My satellite audio (2 analog jacks) pass thru fine and surround is decoded beautifully; I would like to do the same with the singe coaxial jack. Thanks again.

Your TV cannot decode surround sound if it has just analog connections!!

You need a Receiver to decode or a new DVD player that has a analog out. But I say get the receiver and surround sound and don't look back.

No you cannot. The surround sound output from your DVD player is DIGITAL. Therefore you need a digital audio input on your TV in order to decode the surround sound. Since you only have analog audio input jacks, this will not work. Sorry.

Your TV can handle Dolby Digital only from the tuner (and maybe through HDMI).
Since the TV has only two speakers it makes no sense to send to it digital DD sound.
So no, you can't get analog audio from an s/pdif output without a receiver in-between.

Hehehe they are right, you can't do this. You are trying to convert digital audio to analog audio via cable hehehehe...you will cause problem to your system. You need a receiver and speakers system to get your surround sound going.
