Limitting your choices...to LCD TV and Projector?...Fine...
1) LCD TV are great for gaming. The Sharp Aquos series have good quality. Prepare to spend $1000 to $6500 depending on the screen size you want to use.
2) LCD HD projectors...Good choices: Here are some good projectors:
Epson 1080 (Good for the money $3499 Canadian plus a $300 rebate until the end of September I believe)
Epson 1080 PRO...a bit more money than the first one. $5999
www.epson.ca for more info
Now if you want a better one: Try the JVC DILA RS1. Very cool projector. $7500 Canadian dollars.
I have seen the Epson 1080 Pro and the DILA RS1. They are both good projectors. They both destroyed that projector by Mitsubishi...hehehe...didn't even remember the name cause it was way way way below these two...Anyway, the Epson 1080 is good. Epson 1080 Pro is better. JVC DILA RS1 is best.
Of course there are better projectors out there. You have to come up with $30 000 and up for those.
3) If you don't want to spend much...why don't you expand your choices. I know that the JVC rear projection TV are design for gaming as well. Clear and crisp pictures. Specially if you get one of their 1080p series. You will have a bigger screen as well with these TV. From $3000 to $5000 depending on the TV size. You can also get a slimmer rear projection from JVC.

Hi. Well that is entirely up to you. Do you have a room large enough for a Projector and Screen.A 16:9 widescreen with a min. diagonal measurement of 8 feet or more will give you a much larger image than the biggest HD TV. If you really want the Cinema experience at home then a projector and screen is the only way to go.You really do feel that you are at the movies in a Cinema.Even when watching the largest HD Widescreen TV, no matter how good the resolution is,you still know that you are watching a Television set .Also you have all this wonderful surround sound around the room in the wrong proportion to the TV screen (huge sound ,small image).
EDIT.,..So what if the lamps don't last as long ? Every piece of home cinema equipment has problems .And don't forget how the price of Projectors has fallen over the last few years.10 years ago you could not get a decent projector for under $20,000 dollars and 5 years ago the the best ones started at around the $10,000 mark. And now you can buy one with features that were not possible 10 years ago for under $1,000 I paid $7,000 for the first Sharp DLP Projector in 2004. Now it is under $2,000.

If you have a dark theater room already set up then a projector is a good way to go. Projectors tend to get washed out if they are out of a low light setting. Keep in mind the maintenance costs of the projector though, some of those bulbs can be very expensive.
The LCD TV is a better choice for a standard living room and loses much of the potential noise of a projector (cooling fans) as well as the maintenance cost.

Even if you didn't have a non HD pj I would still suggest an HD pj instead of a regular TV. Anyone who thinks that you can't get as good an HD picture as a LCD TV is nuts. Since you have the PS3 you could look to spend 2K or so on a 1080p, or less than 1K for a 720p and it would look outstanding. I'd also suggest getting a DLP instead of an LCD to cut down on the "screen door" effect with the large screen.

in case you'll be in a slightly dark room I recommend going with the projector. yet in addition keep in mind a HD projector cost so lots extra then a liquid crystal demonstrate television. to enable you already know the fact you should in all probability get a sixty 5" liquid crystal demonstrate television for extra low-priced. in case you do circulate with a projector carry on with a DLP over a LED. DLP has been practice to be extra crisp and extra alluring to the human eye. I at present have a fifty two" liquid crystal demonstrate Sharp television and for my video company we own a Panasonic 3200 lumes DLP projector for doing displays. We venture on a 10X7 demonstrate screen at 4:3.

go with a large screen lcd hd monitor, you'll be happier in the end. if your family watches a lot of tv/movies, the lamp in the projector will burn out faster then the lcd, and the lamps are costly...

projection screens aren't good for video games -- they can burn the picture into the screen if you're not careful.
