Hi, Well it all depends what size the building is where the screen is located.Years ago most Theaters were built separately and could entertain a large audience .Therefore the screens could be larger for more people to see. Today a lot of Cinemas are part of a complex where 5 or 6 individual movie houses are built together (In Australia at least) One of the biggest screens ever built was the 146 degree curved screen that showed movies in CINERAMA.in the1950s and 60s.Because of the special requirements to show these movies the length and curve of the screen had to be the same in the theaters where Cinerama was shown. Also there had to be enough room at the rear side walls where two of the three projector booths had to be located to project onto the curved screen.(2 at the sides, 1 at the center back)The screen length from end to end was 105 feet long. But because of the deep curve it was actually longer if you measured by the curve .The screen was 35 feet high.Three 35 mm prints were projected onto the screen by 3 individual projectors to join the 3 images together.Later on when this process stopped and Panavision 70 mm became the standard, screens became a bit smaller and depending which Theater was used about 70 to 80 feet was about the length. But it can be any size as long as the correct ratio is used.TODD-AO was very popular in the 50s and 60s.It also required a deeply curved screen but only needed one projector and one 70 mm film with a special lens that did not distort the image on the curved screen"OKLAHOMA "was the first movie filmed in Todd-AO. Again the screen could be any size but the larger ones were very involving."The Sound of Music" (1965) was one of the last movies filmed in Todd-AO. Today we are left with Panavision for all widescreen movies as all the other systems have ceased.

There is no STANDARD size for movie screens in theaters. In the same theater complex they can be 2 to multiple different sizes. All depends on how big the room/theater is. They range from from 12 wide (true shoe box theater) to around 50. But a good friend of mine help on setting (rigging) for the premier of Pirates of the Caribbean a screen that was 150 feet wide. Also the amount of screen (the white fabric) is used depends on the type of film they use 35mm or 70mm (use for IMAX) and what format it was used to do it, any of the unwanted screen is covered by a curtain. So IMAX theaters usually have bigger screens than regular theaters.

If you wanted know what size was the screen at YOUR theater. For that you have to ask them.
