I have a Canon A620 and the card is a Panosonic SD 512 mb. Someone accidentally pressed the "format card" option in the menu of the camera, and I lost very important images. Please give me the best option to retrieve these lost images. Much appreciated.

I am usually very, very good at numbers. This will be the LAST time I ask this question (unless my next toy is a DSLR). I got the equivilent number yesterday for my Fuji. Can I please ask you geniuses Dr. Sam, Pigoros and antonio m same question for Sony DSC-H2? 2.8/3.7 6-72 (12Xoptical). Sensor size 1/2.5 I'd like to give each of you 10 pts but can't. Should I not vote at all?

I'm looking to buy a digital camera under 100 dollars. Besides megapixels what else do you look for in a decent camera? And How many megapixels should you look for?

I did not explain myself correctly last night. Each and every shot I take in properties it shows digital focal length among shutter speed, aperture etc. Want to know in each and every shot I take what would be the equivelent 35MM focal length. With the Sony it seemed about right, times each digital focal length by 6 to get equivelent 35mm focal length. Sensor 1/2.5,12X optical,6 megapixels. What would I times fuji with each shot? 4x optical, 9 megapixels, and sensor 1/1.6
Maybe take my old 35mm Nikon FE2 and compare focal lengths and then times by a certain number?Antoni and Dr. Sam sorry I did not explain my question correctly last night.

I have Sony DSC-H2. It's 6 megapixels. Optical zoom is 12X.
It seems whatever the digital focal length is I times it by 6 and SEEMS to be pretty accurate. Any idea how much I times my digital focal length on my new toy to get close to 35MM focal length? Fuji E900. 3X optical, 9 megapixels.

I have one main question and one secondary question.

I don't like SLR's because they're too big, have shutter vibration, make loud sounds (that distract people, even animals for nature photos). I'm looking into a higher end rangefinder $700 range. Can anyone give me a reason why I should think otherwise (I'm not all that impressed that when you aim an SLR you see the exact parameters of your shot.

Second question is do you think the large size of an SLR makes people automatically think the camera must be better and take better photos than a smaller format camera?

My mom told me it was waterproof...but i dont think it was becasue when we took it to the beach today and got it wet, it still took pictures but the flash didnt work and water was dripping out of it. I really hope they come out because the pictures will be hilarious.

fhotoace provided this gem of information in an answer to another question:

"CF memory cards (the ones that are used in the pro cameras) have a 120,000 format cycle. That means that if you were to format your card every day, it would last only 57 years. "

Do you know about the format cycle on SD cards? Can you list some reasons why the highest level of cameras are using CF cards instead of switching to SD? Or - why are virtually all P&S cards using SD cards now? Personally, I kind of like the feel of CF cards, but I can see how those delicate pins deep inside the camera might become damaged...

(Yes, I see a CF vs. SD question from 5 months ago, but I was really curious about the format cycle...)
