TomTom, who knows as much about this market as anyone I know, bought himself an A570-IS after getting his first thousand "Best Answer" selections here. I'd trust that as a good endorsement. I've seen some of his photos and they speak well of Tom as a photographer and of the A570-IS as a camera. He may pick up this question and tell you more, but in case he doesn't and in case you have not seen this, here's a review for you:

The SX210is neither perfect, neither is it the magnificent digital digicam in any single element. yet is a huge digital digicam in somewhat some factors, and it has no actual weaknesses for a compact super zoom. it is so small that that could be a actual pocket digital digicam, yet with a zoom determination in common words overwhelmed by super bridge cams. Any Canon product is good. I'm serious.
The thing you have to look at is what you will be using it for.
For example, if you will be doing shots of small, detailed things like jewelry, it probably will not do the job... you will have to step up to the Canon Digital Rebel with the upgrade lens that will do thresh-hold macro.
