I don't get it either. It seems like Nikon has rolled over and simply abdicated the throne to Canon - and several others.

The new P5000 looks like a serious entry into the P&S market, but this is the first one for a couple of years that looked like a real player.

Otherwise, they seem to have fallen off the map.

I'm just trying to open up a discussion that seem to be suggested...

OK - I have to take product shots in a dim warehouse lit with sodium - somethingoranother lights. Most all of the images have a dim, orange-yellow-green cast to them. I can't use a flash due to the high reflectivity of the merchandise so I have to open the camera way up to get as much light in as possible. What is the best way to remove this tint from the photos in photoshop?
THANKS!

I only use pictures for printing on 5x7 paper and sharing online- just wanted to know what is the most practical setting for this purpose? I know setting too high will have very large file sizes while too low will affect picture quality.

I have a Canon Rebel 8megapixel camera, and the pictures come out great, but they are too large to email. My email provider only allows 2mb of space for email, but my pictures are sometimes 3mb. How do I compress them and send them so anybody can open them, without buying Winzip or another costly program?

I just got a Canon Powershot S3 IS, it's supposed to take great pictures, but the few snapshots that I've taken are very blurry.
I'm not familiar with all the features yet, it'll take time for me to learn, but I took some pics indoors set on Auto, and then tried Program with a ISO of 200, and 400. I didn't really see a difference in the pictures when I changed the settings, my pictures just were not sharp.

Can anyone help me out here? Most of my pictures are taken indoors, how should I set my camera? Eventually I'll learn more features of the camera, but now, I just want to shoot some nice sharp indoor pictures.

Also, I'll be shooting objects to use for graphics, all indoors, should my setting be different?

Thanks so much for your help.

I checked out the canon ixus850 is brand (supposedly my first choice) and compared it with canon 900 TI. The former didn't exactly fit my expectation. I noticed the color wasn't that rich in normal settings compared to the latter, which is understandable since the latter boasts of its 10 MP. what confused me was when i tested the canon ixus 75. Ixus 850 and Ixus 75 both have 7.1 MP, but the colors of the IXUS 75 were more alive and rich than the ixus 850 is. Is that just because of the LCD screen? or is it the effect of having a wide angle lens?

I have 4 choices: Canon IXUS 850IS, Canon IXUS 900TI, Canon IXUS 75 or a Sony Cybershot DSC-T100. The first one seems to offer a lot of features. The second has a very high resolution, so i assume image quality is excellent but it doesn't have image stabilization. The third one doesn't have most of the features but i like the 3.0" LCD screen, and it has very good image quality. The last one combines mostly all of the useful features(face detection, image stabilization, plus it has a nice 3.0" LCD screen. I really want something that can take excellent quality photos that can be used for serious photography, and can also be used for ordinary activities like when I'm out with my friends and still take nice shots. So which one's the best?

On my computer at home I cannot charge my Ipod or camera. I cant even download pics from my camera.I have had it 6 months now and have NEVER been able to. My computer at work is the exact same, and I can charge my ipod there and download picture from my camera.(my computer at work and the computer at home were purchased together along with 8 others). When I plug them into the USB ports nothing happens. The computer DOES NOT even acknowledge anything is plugged into the computer. Can these ports have gone bad? Can these ports be changed? What should I do? Im not that familiar with trouble shooting computers. Someone said that, maybe the ports are not enabled... . Well, if they are not, then how do I do that. Please give as many suggestions on how to correct this problem as possible. Thanks alot

I want to buy a digital camera which has good reviews for around $500. I don't know much about cameras but found some reputable brands going for good prices at http://www.nimisis.com/halfpricebargains/US/281052 The digital camera I have now goes through batteries very quickly, is there a camera out there that won't do this? Also, my camera can't take pictures in motion very well, I'd like one that can. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've had the 6MP Kodak Easyshare One for a few months now. Now, when I try and turn the camera on, the green light blinks several times and then stops. The camera actually never turns on, the lens doesn't extend, etc. I have tried fully charging the battery and that doesn't work either. Any input would be helpful! I have tried to call Kodak on several occassions and waited on the phone for over an hour with no answer.

I also want a lens that can shoot at a pretty good distance, so a kit with 2 lenses would be ideal. I was thinking mayber Olympus Evolt or Nikon D40. I would like to keep it below $800.

Hi! I am having a hard time deciding which digital camera to get. I think I have it narrowed down to three...but I am open to suggestions! The three are Casio EX-Z75, Casio EX-Z1050, and Kodak easyshare V803. All three are in similar price ranges ($200-$300), and I would like to stay around there. I am somewhat new to digital cameras and I just want to be able to take good pictures of me and my friends as well as awsome vacation pictures. Also, can any memory card work with any camera? I figured I would buy a 1-2 gig card, but the price ranges are all over and I want to make sure I am buying the right on for the right camera! Thank you so much!!!

Hi,
I have been looking to upgrade to a Digital SLR and looking for a good one. I decided to go for Canon Digital Rebel XT/XTi primarily because of 2 reasons:
1. They are cheaper than Nikon with similar features
2. Have friends who have canon lenses, which I can borrow.

Can you give me suggestions on the lenses. I was told that the Nikon lenses are better than the Canon lenses.

Also that Nikon body is more sturdy than Canon.

Any other reasons to stick (or not) to Canon.

Thanks.

what does that mean? if i choose power off, the camera turns off, if i choose format it says yes or no, if i say no it takes me back to the card setup screen if i say yes, it will erase everything. im not sure what to do, it seems that my only choice is to choose yes, but will it really erase all my photos? should i try printing out the photos before saying yes? what should i do? any help would be appreciated.
