I've been to dpreview.com and read tons of reviews on many different cameras and I just can't decide what to do. I began looking at the Canon S3 IS, but once I actually saw it in the store, the pop-out screen is TINY and the store model was defective so the employee suggested the Panasonic DMC-FZ8, which unlike Canon supports shooting in RAW but also has much bigger noise issues.

I'm looking for something with at least 12X optical zoom, as I'm big into nature photography, at least 6 megapixels, and just overall versatility as I photograph whatever inspires me at the time, in all kinds of environments (low-light concerts, outdoor sports, landscapes, indoor portraits, etc).

I still don't really understand the benefits of shooting in RAW either, to see if that should be a priority feature for me or not, so would someone be nice enough to explain it to me in real-world terms?

And if you personally own a super-zoom camera, which one do you have and why did you choose it?

We have 6, and it is killing me.

Canon digital
Kodak digital
Minolta srt101 (oldie)
Nikon (oldie)
2 cellphones with cameras,
3 disposables that we've never used,
Sony camcorder

And my husband wants ANOTHER ONE!!!!
What is it with people wanting a gazillion cameras?
I want to sell most of them, but my husband just wants to let them crumble in our home.

Can you suggest a Digital camera which is not SLR but we can manually adjust aperture speed, focus and flash? Around $ 500?

consider the amount of the body, lenses, flashes, and other accesories for upgrading.

they say that the canon built their IS in their lens, but the pentax built there's in the camera.

i don't know much about dslr.

guide me. please. cheaper and efficient the better

I was wondering if there *somewhere* is a template to take off the ugly cardboard camera cover and make our own 'it's our wedding day' cover?
Thanks! ♥

I'm planning to get a Canon EF 28-105mm as a walk-around lens for my XTi and was wondering if non-Canon filters are good enough and if you'd advise those. I'd hate to spend too much on filters alone...
I'm looking at these - any points for me?

I've asked this question before, but i would also like advice concerning the expense of such lenses.

Basically, i'm looking to spend no more than $1,000 for an initial set of lenses for an EOS 5D. I'll get more later on, but i need something that can handle most situations until i get more money. A general use lens, macro, and a telephoto zoom would be ideal. I would like at least two lenses, probably no more than three.

I usually do a lot of stillife and macro street scenes for my personal use. But i would also like a nice lens i can use to work with people, as i've been starting to shoot for events indoors - parties and important meetings and the such.

Probably, i would be hunting on ebay or other online sites for these, so consider their general prices.

I had ordered a camera at Target.com and the order has been delayed. I was going to use that to take pictures at the end of the year, but now it's not coming until July. What should I do?

Are they using super expensive cameras or is it the film speed, or is it just the glossy paper that makes them look finely detailed?

So, I dropped my Kodak EasyShare V603 camera, only about a foot above the ground, and the camera just turned off (but with the lens still stuck out). So, I go to turn it back on and the start up "KODAK" screen comes on, it makes the start up noise, and then just turns off again. It's not a lack of power, because it's plugged into the charger right now... and the same thing is still happening. And still, the lense just stays still, no movement.

Can I save it?

I have a sony 3.2 mp cybershot. ANd the most annoying thing about it is I cant make it take a shot INSTANTLY. And orange light shines out and then when the camera beeps THEN it takes a pic.

I was trying to take a cute pic of my cat swatting the camera. But by the time it went off. All I got was a pic of his *** :((

Is there any (im sure there is my 3.2 is trash by todays standards) camera where you can take instant photos with no delay??

Explain me where am I going wrong?
24 bits per pixel =3bytes/pixel
8 Megapixel image (8x10E6)
Image size should be 8x10E6x3 ~ 24MB

However, my JPEG images are 3.3MB and RAW images are 10MB.

Why isn't my picture 24MB? Or where is my math wrong?

Thanks.

I just purchased a Canon S3 IS. I'm planning on exchanging it for something else. It's a great camera, the reviews are great, and it's supposed to take beautiful pictures, but it's not working with me. It has too many features, the more I try the more confused I get.

I want to exchange it for a good camera that takes sharp pictures - preferably Canon.

I'd like to know, has anyone had experience with a good 6 to 10 megapixel Canon camera? I prefer Canon, they're known to be the best.

I want a camera with a good zoom, not a compact one - I hate small cameras. I actually liked the look of the S3 IS, but I guess the simpler they are, the simpler they look.

I'm just sick and tired of looking for the right camera, please, please only answer if you know what to answer.

Thanks. I appreciate your help.

Not an enthusiast or pro: still worth it to buy an expensive camera? DSLR?
I was thinking about picking up a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I love the high quality pictures and the ability to take pictures really quickly one after the other.

My sister and I were filming a short clip on our Sony Digital Still Camera and when we tried to play it back, the scene was playing very small in the center of the screen. I tried to upload it onto my computer and it was incredibly blurry. My dad told me I need to change the resolution on the camera, but I don't even know what that means. Can someone help me?
