Hard disk based camcorders... To begin with, I am new to the camcorders and do not have much knowledge about them. I am planning to buy a camcorder for the holidays and the idea of my videos being stored directly to a 30GB hard disk sounds great to me. But for some reason, most camcorder buying guides do not really mention these hard disk media camcorders and I am not sure why.

Have these hard disk media camcorders really worth all the money? Any big disadvantages or issue which I should know of before buying one? And lastly, the only two companies I found who make these types of camcorders were Sony and JVC. Do I have more options or do I have to settle for Sony or JVC?

Please Help..

Hi everybody, well, I have a Panasonic GS-10(camcorder) and it doesn't accept the cassettes, well, when I open the little door the mechanism come up and gets open to let me put the cassette inside, but when I close it, it doesn't come down, instead, if don't put the cassette, it goes back down.Yet, if I'm so lucky that it accept the cassette(because 0.5/100 times it works), it doesn't record!...What is it?

Assume there is no tape inside (it will be transmitted to a receiver elsewhere)

Thanks

I have a canon mvx250i camcoder that is having problems with its zoom. Sometimes it will zoom in (to the closest zoom) on its own, and when I try and zoom out - it will slowly zoom out, but then after I let go of the zoom out switch it automatically zooms back in on its own (to the closest zoom again). After a couple days it normally reverts back to normal functioning and the zoom works fine. This problem seems to happen after I recharge the battery (I don't know whether this is a coincidence or not). Anyway, this time the camera is not reverting back to its normal functioning and it seems to be stuck with this zoom problem. Please help.....thanks

I have a bunch of Hi8 tapes that I would like to get o a video CD or a DVD. What is the easiest way to do this?

I connected a Hi8 camera to my DVD recorder to make a dvd of the tape. I live in the UK so my TV and Liteon are both PAL but both can be set to NTSC. The camera is NTSC. When I connect it all together I can route the signal from the camera, through the DVD recorder and into the TV and it plays fine, I can see the picture clearly. However, when I try to record a message comes up saying incorrect input format. What could be wrong? thanks

I want to purchase a video camera for my father who will be 65 in February. It has to be something that won't be too hard for him to understand. He likes mechanical things, but he does not own a computer, so it cannot be anything he has to hook up to a computer. Is there anything you would recommend that would be simple for him to use that he can use on video tapes? He does have a VCR. I want one that isn't too cheap and not too expensive. I would like some opinions on brand names that will last and any recommendations and to battery life etc. Thank you in advance.
