I have tapes from from about 1993 and 1998 (both different kinds of tapes) but i dont have the camera for the tapes for 1993. Is there a way i can transfer any kind of tape to my computer possibly without the camera.

yacthz's answer applies only to DV tapes, and sounds like it won't do any good to your old footage.
What formats (kinds) *are* these tapes? Without the camera, you still need something to push them into that will connect to the computer..... If it's not a camera, then it's a VCR.
Then you'll need a computer card with analog video inputs (see example in "sources"), and then hook the two up with standard audio/video cables (usually the red-white-yellow ones).

Well, It's not very hard, the only thing you need is a card (a sort of adapter card) to set up in your computer that let you connect the cassette-player to the computer, it doesn't even cost much, that's the only way I know to transfer videos from cassettes to a PC without a camcorder(I mean camera, videocamera) which is easy and cheap.

Ahh this is a very good question my friend, you will need a DVI port on your camera, you will also need a FIREWIRE cord, then on your computer you will need a FIREWIRE port, this is similar to a USB port but at one of the ends it caves in a little bit. Youll most likely need windows movie maker on your computer. To get a firewire cord you'll need to go to best buy or soem place. Good luck
