The C300 is 3.2 Megapixels, the C6230 is 2.0 Megapixels, so the C300 is better in terms of number of pixels.

For the DV connector, it may depend on the model number of the camcorder. Try a search on eBay for the model number of your camcorder + 'DV connector' or go to an online/offline camera store. See link below to a yahoo answer's question about the same sort of thing.

Your camcorder has a DV (Digital Video) connector. Normally, you would connect the camcorder via a Firewire cable to a socket on a Firewire interface card fitted to your PC. If your PC doesn't have such a card, then there are 2 ways to deal with that.

1. Buy a Firewire interface card and fit it to your PC yourself or get someone who knows a bit more about computers to fit. Its a question of turning off your PC, unfastening the cover of your PC, seeing whether it has a spare PCI slot (see picture on wikipedia page that I've provided a link to) to fit the card into, buying the card, plugging it in, replacing the cover, turning on the power and waiting for Windows XP to detect the new card and install software drivers for it. Accessing the insides of your PC may invalidate any guarantee.

2. If you don't feel comfortable fitting the card. You can use the external USB connector of your PC and buy a 'USB to Firewire Adaptor' instead. Windows XP should detect it or it may come with a software driver disk.

You then connect the DV connector on your camcorder to a Firewire socket on the interface/adaptor card with a Firewire cable.

Two of the links below are to articles on how to connect a camcorder with a DV connector, via a firewire cable and a 'Firewire to USB adaptor' to a computer. It has a picture of how its all connected, and an explanation. There are 2 video standards; PAL for Europe and NTSC for the USA. There are versions of the article for PAL and NTSC.

The manual of your camcorder should tell you how to transfer video to your PC. If you can't find it, most camcorder manufacturers have the manual available for download on their website as an Adobe Acrobat file. e.g. www.jvc.com
