I have a digital setup with one computer dedicated to the task. I record multi track music and vocals with the software that came with my soundblaster card. It works fairly well and as this system is new to me I improve daily. You didn't mention what you are recording or how you would like to go about it and you don't accept e-mails but if you contact me I would be more than happy to share my experiences with my current setup and the previous two I have used.

The most important thing is a good Camcorder. Something in metal, and costing around 4-5 grand. That's the key. Besides that, quality adjustable lighting and backdrops are also nice.

I use the following for multi-track audio recording:

iMac computer w/ external hard drive
MOTU 828
M Audio monitors
various microphones

I've added guitar and bass preamp modules to the above as well as a headphone amp.

Don't you put old cardboard egg boxes on the wall to soundproof the room (saw it on Grange Hill when I was 13).
