I bought this Sony HC36 here in the US. I guess I will not be able to plug it into a PAL TV in Europe with a success, right? But if I use a PC to burn the DVDs I should be able to play them on any DVD Player in the EU, correct? It just a matter of the software. Am I thinking correctly?

Anything I should be aware of? Any particular software to use for the burning?

And actually this question has a BONUS PART as well: what if I am about to purchase an laptop in the US? Obviously it has an American region code. Is there anything to do with this? How is an American Dell will be resulted in here?

I purchased a JVC video camera and have had nothing but problems with it. First it had a lens cap issue (Google JVC &Lens Cap) which seemed to be a design flaw. NOW my JVC video camera is saying Condensation, Operation Paused and won't do anything. I live in Colorado where humidity is not a problem and the camera has not gone through any rapid temp changes. Google this and you will find over 500+ entries in Google of people looking for answers to this problem. Leaving the camera on, JVC's suggestion, does not work. Blow drying it does not work. Any solution I have found (basically taking the entire camera apart and q-tipping all sorts of things, just fixes it for maybe a couple of hours if I am lucky but then it comes back. This is an obvious design flaw given the number of people reporting the problem but JVC only tells you to pay for a service center. Given what you heard, would you be a sucker like me and ever buy a JVC product? JVC = Just Video CRAP

I have an old 8mm tape from a handheld palmcorder containing family vacation, etc and I'd like to keep it in digital format so I can make copies. I don't even have the palmcorder anymore and I'm unable to even watch the tape. Are there photo centers that can do this type of transfer or do I need to send this somewhere?

Help. I have just got round to copying some 15 year old family VHS videos to DVD. One VHS tape has snapped inside the case. Doh. I wouldnt be that bothered if was an old movie that I could pick up elsewhere. But, unless I can fix it, the family memories will be lost.

Is there such thing as a splicing kit that could repair it? I remember that there used to be small kits for repairing music cassettes.

Otherwise, any ideas who could do it?

I am trying to buy a digital camcorder but I want one that takes good qualitiy videos with no blocky pictures and sound. Just clear picture and sound. I want it to be able to hook up to the computer. So, just put the brand and model that you have and who's ever is the best, lowest priced one will get 10 points. Thanks

Most programs don't recognize the files format, and other ones tell me they are damaged or something. I managed to open the files with a software called VLC media player. In spite of that, I tried to make a new file with a new extension with the mentioned program but that new file didn't work on windows media player. The original file extension was Asf but (as I said previously) most programs weren't able to open it, or even recognize it...... I need to run those files on windows media player or other standart software because i need other people to open the files
