I have a FujiFilm FinePix 5 or 6 megapixels (I can't remember... maybe 5.3?). I like it. FujiFilm has a very good warranty and extended warranty (for purchase) program. The camera is great, it's small enough for a pocket and robust enough to take 100s of high quality pictures and videos with sound (I have the largest memory chip they offer). I'd buy a FujiFilm camera again for sure.

I will recommend you the sony digital cameras. Only caution you need to take while buying is that it should be a make of Japan.
Lots of good models are there go to the sony authorised shop and get more details of the camera or visit Sony website of your region.

Newegg has an excellent assortment of high end cameras from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, etc. Most cameras there also have ratings which is very good from a buyer's perspective.

I suggest a Canon camera, I know a few friends of mine that are very happy with theirs and didn't regret anything. here's a link to the general selection of cameras: http://www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=12

probably in the near future I will also buy a Canon model something similar to this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16830120043
the 12x optical zoom is insane plus 6MP is nice.

FYI, I bought ALL my high end computer parts from newegg and was very impressed by their customer service too. here's a link to what I bought: http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47019 a very high end machine that I built myself and probably saved $1.5-2K if I had ordered it pre-assembled from somewhere like Dell. Highly recommend Newegg.

For digital cameras, I suggest staying with the top name brands in photography such as Canon, Nikon, Olympus. Here are a few review sites if you want to learn more about digital cameras.

go to http://www.benjischwimmer.com/shop.php

on the front page itself they will display the best selling Camera wth all user reviews. So you can see what's going on with all the brands before you buy it. I think that is the smart and right way to do it to learn from the current ussers

good luck
