I have SONY's camcorder (the old model from year 2000) and usually there a small tape/cassette for video recordings.
My problem is that I have some recordings in this small/compact tape, which I dont want to transfer to regular Video tape, instead, I want to save it on the web for display on my website. So the question is:

A)How many and what sort of cables/jacks/cord I will be needing to connect between camcorder and computer? (If I buy it what should I ask for?)

B)How do I connect my camcorder to my PC/Lap Top, in a waythat I can transfer data from camcorder to PC/Lap Top.

C)Can anyone be able to edit this file, or there is a way that I can protect from editing?

Appreciate serious help.
Regards

Ricky

I bought a JVC GR-D366EK camcorder and was told by the sales assistant that I would be able to upload the videoes I shoot on to my PC. Unfortunately when I got home and read the operationa instructions, I discovered that I need a firewire (DV) cable to connect the camera to my PC. There is no where on my PC to connect this cable. I'm getting confliciting information on what I can do. I was told by one person that I can get a firewire card, then another person told me I couldn't! HELP!!!

Hey,
I am planning to get anew camcorder. Since I am an IT person(I am programmer) . I like to edit my videos add music , mix videos and create interesting movies. Now I use 5 years old Digital 8 camcorder. Now, its time to buy a new toy. Can't deside what to get. Plus i do not like quality....
It takes too long to transfer video from camcorder to computer for dv. Hardrive camcorders looks better in this case. What about picture quality? Will i loose quality if i will buy hardrive camcorders instead of mini dv?
Any particular Models in mind?

When I say dim light enviroment I mean a club. I don't like the infrared effect! And I can't use a light bulb to lighten the scene that I'm shooting because it will ruin the club atmosphere... Any suggestions?

Hello,

I'm venturing into professional film and documentary making and I am about to purchase a camera. I have being doing some major research in order to buy a good one, however one problem I have come across is whether to invest in a HD or DV camera.

I am looking for optimum picture quality and therefore would love to get a new HD camera but I know that they are still in their infancy. You see I wish to use this camera for a few years to come so maybe buying a HD camera would be good in the longrun.

Then I get the idea that I should invest in a good DV camera as it's safe for the moment but then worry that in about a year or two DV will no longer be as good when compared to HD. Therefore I will be pissed that I made a bad choice when choosing DV in the first place.

If I go DV, maybe it will not be so good in a year or 2. If I go HD, maybe they will not take off so well and I shall be left with a fancy yet worthless piece of hardward.

My budget is $1500 - $2000
