The Canon Elura 100 is within your budget range, and it's also selected as Camcorderinfo.com's camcorder of the year for overall value.

In this range I like the Panasonic cameras - GS36. They have everything you need to make pretty good footage and they're really small and light. Well, maybe they can't be dropped or anything, but if you're like me and want to have a camera ready at all times, the light weight is a bonus. These also have nice LCD screens and easy to use controls.
