i'm using ulead video studio and every time i try to import a video from my documents, or even the dvd-rw that i use to record stuff from my video camera, it tells me that the format is mismatched. i installed ulead with a disc that came with the freakin' camera, the dvd-rw came with the freakin' camera and the camera i'm using...well anyway...so how do i change the format or what can i do to get the program to accept my videos?i really need help. i try to fix it at least twice each day and if the same stupid maddening message tells me it's mismatched i am so going to smash my camera, the laptop, the disc and anything else even remotely related to smithereens

I am considering buying a camcorder - specifically a Canon Elura 100. I do not have kids, which I think many who buy them, use it for. I love having a digital still camera, but don't know how much I would mess with a camcorder. I would hope to use it on vacations and car events in my Miata. I guess my question is, do you use yours for more than taking videos of your kids?

I've heard that if you want to do any kind of semi professional / amateur film making and editing - DV tape is the way to go. is it true that camcorders which record to a mini DVD dont allow the footage to be loaded onto a computer for editing?

I'm about to buy a camcorder and I want to balance getting something good with not overspending. Seems that the ones that record to DVD are being replaced by ones that record directly to a hard-drive. However, those are more expensive. Is there any huge advantage of going with the hard-drive version for the average user?

Also, if I go the DVD route-- is there any advantage to the Mini-DV rather than the full sized DVD? How do you play the mini-DVD's on a DVD drive?

Thanks.

We recently got the new JVC Everio, which came with the Cyberlink Power Director and Power Producer software. It records with the file extension .mod

We would like to be able to "Freeze" an image or "Take a Snapshot" of images off of the recorded file. Is this possible?

My wife got the Sony DCR-SR100 handycam for Christmas and it works great except for editing the videos. It comes with a program for 'editing' from Pixela. One can really only edit the clips themselves. Forget stringing them with other clips to great small movies. I was looking into other software options. Windows Movie Maker doesn't work, the files will not import. I was looking at Cyberlink PowerDirector 5 or Sony Vegas Moviemaker.

I am looking to make an audition tape for a TV show and am having no luck in editing with the software Sony provided. Anyone have any ideas?
