ilove_y has no idea what hes talking about, thats the truth, not my opinion. Anyways, I'm guessing you have a TV tuner on your computer because you want to capture in an analog format. Before you do that, check and see if your computer has an IEEE 1394 port or iLink or firewire port, theyre all the same thing (If you dont have a MiniDV camera, then just ignore this). If you do have a firewire port, use that to transfer your MiniDV footage instead. If you dont have a firewire port and dont want to buy a capture card, or you dont have a MiniDV camera, use your s-video connection. s-video offers better quality than composite, although remember you will still have to connect the white and red plugs for the audio, otherwise you will have a silent, but pristine video clip. Also, when you capture, movie maker will give you two options. Choose the option Best quality if you want best quality, or choose the option best quality for playback on my computer if you want that. The Best quality option will give you the best quality overall, but bigger files. Hope this helps!

The S-video will give you the best quality, but, remember to adjust the settings for your capture card to be best quality as well.
Is your camera VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8? Or MiniDV, Digital 8?

you can select any one composite or s-VHS video. But you have to select format for higher quality for one hour. there are so many different format for that best or higher one hour, better two hour, three hour, four hour and six hour format per DVD. you select best or higher quality one hour format.
