i'm using ulead video studio and every time i try to import a video from my documents, or even the dvd-rw that i use to record stuff from my video camera, it tells me that the format is mismatched. i installed ulead with a disc that came with the freakin' camera, the dvd-rw came with the freakin' camera and the camera i'm using...well anyway...so how do i change the format or what can i do to get the program to accept my videos?i really need help. i try to fix it at least twice each day and if the same stupid maddening message tells me it's mismatched i am so going to smash my camera, the laptop, the disc and anything else even remotely related to smithereens

The problem is, you are trying to edit a DVD, which is compressed and weird AV formats.

I assume you have something like a DVD HandyCam. Bad news for the die hard editor freak like me. I prefer mini-DV.

Next time, make sure that the DVD camcorder is set to EDIT MODE before putting in a fresh blank DVD. This will allow you to edit the video from the DVD. Still a crappy compressed file, but at least it can be worked with.

Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0 (or better) is what you actually need. Not that VideoStudio. Not the cut-down version that they ship with the camcorder.
