every time i see "jackass" or "viva la bam" i see one of the guys with a regular mini dv camera, but it has like a big lens or a filter attached to the original lens. Does anyone know what is probably attached to the lens?

I'm a 16 year old on a limited - very limited! - budget, but I would really like a video camera and I'm willing to save up for one. I just need something simple, nothing fancy, with a good zoom feature. That's pretty much all I ask. And can you download videos to your computer? I have no idea what I'm getting into here, but if that's possible, that would be a nice feature as well. So, what's the cheapest video camera you can think of that would work?

I got Movie Edit Pro 11 for X-mas and I've made a couple of videos, and I want to put them on YouTube, but there are in MVD format and I don't know how to get them into the right format so that YouTube will accept it!! I've looked in the instuction manual, but it's too confusing for me to figure out. Can anyone put it into simple words?? Please!!

I'm looking to buy a video camera. No, not one that takes pictures, but ones to make my own movies and DVD's. I want one that uses a CD so I can just pop the CD into my computer or DVD player to watch or edit. I want one that's not too expensive; I'm on a limited budget. But I do want one that works well and is worth the money. If possible, please tell me about all different kinds of video cameras, of all types and prices, then tell me which one you think is best for me. Best answer will be awarded, thank you!

I have an analog camcorder and would like to convert those tapes to DVD. The only outputs on my camcorder are: audio and video, and RFU DC Out. Is there an adapter or something that I can buy that will go from my camcorder to my computer so that I can convert my tapes to DVD. I have S-Video and Firewire connections on my computer. I know that I can buy converter boxes that are $100 or more. What I'm looking for is a cable or some kind of cable adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much...

I have a Sony HC96 MiniDV Camcorder. When I try copying the movie using the default USB cable, it gives 4GB image size for a 10 min movie. I can't even imagine copying a 60 min cassette. Is there any free software utility available to shrink this video size? I tried a couple of them but they shrink too much (almost 200%) and the quality is gone.

I even called Sony support guys and they suggest me to buy some expensive software out in the market. I already spent a grand getting this expensive camcorder and in no way in a mood to spend a dime on this any more.

Appreciate any input in this regard. Thanks.

-Sam.
