Ok. So im considering a buying a certain digital video camera. The format of the files are mpeg. I use Windows Movie Maker for my productions and I wondered if WMM supports mpeg files. It says it supports mpeg-4, but I Wondered if thats the same as mpeg.

hello - been doing alot of reading - Im looking to buy a good camcorder, probably a miniDV, something that can do good video (would like something with almost 'film' feel to it - but I know that costs alot more) - and ideally something I can mess around with, learn the craft of filmmaking (not home videos or baseball games) and still have it be useful beyond a point-n-shoot...any suggestions? Im leaning towards Canons for their lenses and quality, but there are ALOT of options out ther.

I have a Sony DVD HandyCam that uses the 1.4 GB minidisks. Usually I use DVD-Rs to record my work on, but I decided to purchase a few DVD-RWs so I can reuse them once the video is uploaded to my computer. I made a few videos and no longer wanted them, so I tryed to locate a button to erase the disk while still in the camcorder. I was unable to locate a feature like this, so I inserted the disk into my computer's drive and used Windows to erase the disk. I put the disk back into the camcorder after being erased, but the camcorder would not read it, simply displaying a "Disk Error" message. Have I ruined my disk? And how do safely delete the videos from the disk in the future?

We have to make a 2 minute (min.) video for class. Now, here's my problem... last time we had a video project, it went fine, but getting it onto the computer for editing and burning to DVD took forever to do. Finally we got it on, only by going to my mom's work office. Even then it took a really long time and was complicated. What is the best thing to use? If I use a digital camera (not a camcorder) for taking the video, it would certainly be simpler, but would it work on a television when its burned onto a DVD?

Part 2 question... if I wanted to test my camera type with this, and I only have Movie Maker (my dad has better programs, though he's not here) and no DVD burner, can I still do it?

But I dont totally understand all the in's and outs, it says it is wireless and has a reciver, whats this reciver for? Do I have to have it plugged in somewhere for it to work? Or do I record my stuff and then connect it to pc etc to get my images?

I am replacing a tired 2megapixel camera and thought I might buy a camcorder that takes decent stills too. I wanted to spend £150 on a camera, so thought I would push the boat out & get 2in1 camcorder with camera facility?!!

I need a new camcorder for making movies and uploading them to the internet - I don't know whether to buy a DV or a hard drive based camcorder? I heard a lot of benefits to the hard drive based like you never have to convert the file - but I also hear it is harder to edit and to find editing software for - on the DV end I hear the quality is better, but it uploads to your computer in real time which sucks - but it is the easiest to edit???? please help!

I have videos on both VHS & Hi-8. I hooked my Hi-8 camera up to my computer via an S-Video cable, but unfortunately, it was only for tv-out. I can now use the Handycam as a second monitor, but that does me absolutely no good.

We have a DVD burner on the computer, and we cannot afford to buy a 2nd DVD burner for the tv right now, and I'd like to get this done soon.

Please no wisecracks by people who think they're intelligent by telling me to go buy one or wait till I can afford one or hire someone else to do it, or any other such comments. Earn your 1 point by posting inane comments somewhere else, please.

Thank you in advance to those who see there is more to life than earning Yahoo points.
