I was looking over a website and think I want to get a nanny cam to make sure everything is ok in my house while I go to work.

But I dont totally understand all the in's and outs, it says it is wireless and has a reciver, whats this reciver for? Do I have to have it plugged in somewhere for it to work? Or do I record my stuff and then connect it to pc etc to get my images?

Any help would be helpfull!

The receiver receives the signal from the camera but that has to be connected to a recorder and TV if you want to see what's been happening.

Basically the camera has a transmitter and sends the signal to the reciever unit to be able to connect to PC or video recorder!

It will need to be plugged in unless it is one of the battery pack types as well!

It isn't too much hassle to set up but I would connect it to a spare video recorder rather than PC

Sometimes the simpler options are the best - a small camera with basic functions can be bought for about £15 - OK, the images are in Black and White but what doesit really matter!

I have just bought a spy camera from Halina (B&W) and the quality is excellent and it only cost me £10

The receiver collects the video signal from the wireless camera.

You would plug the receiver in to a power socket for power.

Then the receiver would connect to a TV for viewing only or Video Recorder for recording (cable usually included with receiver). This cable could be SCART for easy connection. If it is not a scart cable and you cannot fix it to the TV or VCR, take the cable to your local Maplins for a convertor.

An IP camera is a good choice. Simply plug in the power then connect to your PC. Your PC can record the video all day long. You can even watch it from work or any PC connected to the Internet.

Sorry, I'm not sure about the specific answer to your question. But a little other advice: Make sure you tell your nanny that you will be putting cameras up in the house. You don't need to tell her where, but she deserves to know. I would be very upset if I found that someone was spying on me without my consent, and also, knowing that she is being watched could mean even more attentive care for your child.
