if you are using vhs tapes then buy a vhs camcorde apt, around £10. put that into the video, as long as you have cables the video and dvdr correctly you can transfer onto dvd.
also if you camcorder has the yellow / red /white output and the dvdr has these at the front, then just use those instead.

I would suggest you try these options. Cheaper one first (!!!).
1) if you have a VCR as well as home DVD recorder, you could try connecting the two together, via a scart or three phono pin (depending on your machines), and setting the VCR to play and the DVD recorder to record.. It MIGHT work
2) failing that, if you have a DVD or CD burner on your computer, you could get a gadget called Pinnacle Moviebox. This includes excellent video editing software, DVD/ VCD burning software, and an analogue breakout box, with the three (yellow, white and red) phono pins. You could then connect the VCR to the computer, save the footage through Pinnacle, then burn to DVD (if you have a DVD burner) or a VCD (Video CD, acts like a DVD in most players) if you only have a CD burner. This latter method is what I use a lot.

Arath gave a great answer. I would try his first suggestion, if you have it. Failing that, here's my next suggestions.
Walgreen's charges about 20 dollars per videotape to convert them to DVD. Most people that shoot wedding videos can do this also.
Arath likes to use Moviebox. Moviebox is around 200 dollars. I prefer another software, also from Pinnacle called Studio. There are different versions of it depending on the type of things you want to do with it. It starts at 80 dollars.

confident. you will desire to purchase a 3RCA/Svideo to USB cable and a application which huge-unfold comes with for loose in a %.. then you definately activate the digicam, connect on your laptop, open the appliance and catch. each hour of video takes one hour to catch. Then burn the video documents onto a DVD.

Walgreens or walmart can do that for you. I have no idea how much it costs to have this done.
