where can i actually buy a professional panavision camera, one that will hook up to the computer for editing?

Panavision cameras aren't sold.

They are only rented.

They don't sell, they only rent. It's about $500 to $1000 per day. Cheer up. IF they sold, a DIGITAL Panavision camera would sell for about $250,000

Next problem is the connection. They use PRO connectors only, not FireWire, at least not that I'm aware of!

You could probably buy one if you look hard enough, obviously the rentals places buy them from somewhere.

Realistically, a single lens for one of "those" cameras can cost as much as $45,000.00!! No wonder why they are rented.

You can buy attachments, filters and accessories. But the actual camera is going to be difficult.

I have actually had the luxury of playing around with a Panavision camera, mounted on a hydraulic dolly, in wheels.

I dunno, but hey the sony XDCAM HD F350 only costs $25,800 MSRP. To give you an idea of how that compares to other cameras, it has been said to give similar performance to that of an F900 HDCAM, which was used to shoot Attack of the Clones. Oh, and the F900 was produced by Sony in cooperation with Panavision. As for connecting it to your computer, I dunno. But for something thats even cheaper, panasonic's hvx200 costs a mere $6000, and it shoots in 100Mbit DVCPRO HD. Yeah, but as for actually buying a panavision camera, you can't do that, they own the cameras. Anyways, hope this helps!

most digital camera's hook up to the computer to edit. no need so spend so much for the same use as most would do.
