I just bought a Sony DVD803E second hand and am wondering what accessories I really need. It came with the charger and USB cable. What else do I need apart from a spare battery?

I would definitely pick up a battery or two and maybe a zoom microphone. The 803E has a nice built in mic but it is located on the top of the camcorder which may not pick up distant sounds too well. It depends a lot on what you want to use the camcorder for but a remote is available and definitely handy in some cases. I would also suggest getting a few mini DVD-Rs because you will be lucky to get about 20 minutes of recording time in the best quality setting per disk. Finally at only 10x optical zoom it may be worth getting a telephoto lens or even a wide-angle lens for it. Best of luck with it!

(I just realized this is the PAL version of this camcorder so if you are from Australia, as I suspect you are, you are all set, if you are from the States, then you will need a PAL-->NTSC converter.)

Not much, perhaps a video cable, and remote, if there is one available for it. It's a dvd cam, so thats why you wont really need a video cable, and in case you read about firewire cables, you wont need one at all. Also, if it has the option of taking pictures, get an SD card, but not too big, because you will have a dedicated digital still camera taking pictures (right? at least I hope so.). Hope this helps!
