I have an analog camcorder and would like to convert those tapes to DVD. The only outputs on my camcorder are: audio and video, and RFU DC Out. Is there an adapter or something that I can buy that will go from my camcorder to my computer so that I can convert my tapes to DVD. I have S-Video and Firewire connections on my computer. I know that I can buy converter boxes that are $100 or more. What I'm looking for is a cable or some kind of cable adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to convert your tapes to DVD is with a DVD recorder. You can then transfer from the DVD to your computer using your computer's DVD drive. The DVD recorder converts the analog signal from your camcorder to digital and records the digital information onto a DVD. You connect the audio and video from your camcorder to a line-in input on the DVD recorder.

You cannot connect an analogue camcorder direct to a computer. It just will not work as the computer can only deal with a digital signal. You have no alternative but to get one of the convertor boxes, such as a Pinnacle Dazzle Fusion. I'm sorry, but there is no cheaper way.

The answer which suggest you write them to DVD is not helpful - you still need to convert the signal to digital.
