Now almost anyone can get a great quality video camera for cheap and shoot professional-looking short films. It may not be Panavision but technology continues to improve and before you know it they'll make cheap video cameras with that quality that anyone can use!

I looking for a Digital Camcorders that can give me clear recording as clear as a direct tv movies. Or as sharp as a dvd quality.

Now people told me stuff like an HD cam but, I want one that I can connect via usb to my pc and copy it to my hard drive.

AND

I wanted one for under $2000. An HD Cam cost like $15,000, no sir, I'll have to work for the next 15 years saving to pay for that.

Thanks

I want to connect my video camera to my laptop which runs Windows. As far as I can see the firewires only refer to working on macs and so wonder if they can also be used on windows. If they can't what other cables can be used?

It should not be too bulky to carry around.I do not want to add more paraphernalia like discs etc.My budget is less than $500.It should be a simple, easy- to- shoot model without too much complicated manual adjustments which can be done only with expertise and experience of a professional.I may use it as a hobby of an amateur with, let me say, 24 hours shoot at a stretch. This model should give pictures of good clarity even indoors.I should be able to connect it to a home PC,do the editing myself and take prints without much difficulty and without reading pages and pages of instruction manuals, understanding them and sruggling to take video prints or to view them.
Please suggest something for small family outings which do not last more than a week but simple to operate with a long-life battery. Please also specify what accesories are a must and what is the price.
I am totally confused and bewildered to read the info available in the marketplace; the net result is nothing but zero.

I've researched extensively, I've gone to Best Buy 4-5 times, and I've come up empty-handed. Anyone out there have any ideas for a nice reliable camera I can use, just for filming short movies?

My friends and I enjoy recording ourselves when we go salsa dancing at clubs. Generaly there isn't much light and using a spot light for the camera would be distracting to other dancers. Is there a way to improve quality and clarity without using an extra light?

I've heard that using the camera to transfer DV tapes onto computer can be bad for the camera heads.
Is there an alternative such as perhaps a DV reader or player which could transfer the clips?

Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers!

I know that unlike mini-dvd's, hard drives, and flash memory camcorders, mini-dv camcorders record to tape and use a compression other than mp3. However, I previously learned that the video quality is much better. So, how do you get the mini-dv video to save to your computer as an mp3? Do you press play on the camcorder and then it sends the video to your computer via usb or firewire? If that is how you do it, does the camcorder automatically convert it to an MP3 or do you then have to take an additional step of converting the video file to an MP3?

Don't mean to sound stupid but I really have no idea how this works despite being fairly computer savy.

Thanks for the help.
